John Andrew Karnes was born in New Castle,
Pennsylvania. He Grew up in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania attending school there until his graduation from Slippery Rock Area High School in 1989. He attended West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia, and graduated in 1993
with a BS in computer science.
He joined the United Stated Army Reserves in 1989 and attended basic training at Ft. Dix, New Jersey that same year. He then served with 354th
Ordinance Company in Morgantown, West Virginia attending AIT in 1990 and Ft Leonard Wood, Missouri. In 1993, he was commissioned as a
second lieutenant, branch infantry, in the United States Army Reserves, and in 1995 attended Infantry Officers Basic Course at Ft. Benning, Georgia. His civilian
career has taken him from West Virginia, to Florida, to Georgia, to Texas, and currently back to Georgia.
