Joe Wayne Karnes

After Joe's first marriage, and before he returned to Senath, Missouri, Joe was married to a woman in Memphis.

3rd Wife: Avis L. Karnes (May 24, 1925 - November 19, 1992)

Married March 18, 1961

Joe Wayne went to school in Senath. He met a woman from Paragould, Arkansas, named Viva Alyne Phillips. They were married before he went into the Army. When he returned from the Army they moved to Memphis where he worked as a bookkeeper for Hohen [not sure about spelling] Brothers Cotton Company. Joe and his first wife split in approximately 1954, and he was briefly married to another woman in Memphis before he moved back to Senath. Osee, Joe's mother, took in Joe Jr, and Marilyn stayed with her mother.

I received the following information from Marilyn in August of 2006:

I lived in TX since 1977 but was divorced on August 15, 2002 after a 43 year marriage. This past December, I remarried and now reside in Southern Louisiana, but have maintained my former married name. I married Louis Carroll DeMarcy of Abbeville, Louisiana.

I have 3 grown sons:

Christopher Mark , born in 196l.
Matthew Philip , born in 1966
Nathan Joseph , born in 1969

I have seven grandchildren:

Chris's children: Twin boys, David Michael and Jacob Paul , age 10
One girl, Joyanna Marilyn , age 8
One son, Philip Matthew , age 7
Matt's son : Joshua Fisher , age 10
Nathan's sons : Ethan Daniel , age 6
Luke Allen , age 4

Joe Wayne Karnes Jr passed away on January 6th, 2007. He is buried next to his mother in a family plot in Brown's Chapel outside of Paragould, Arkansas

Joe Wayne and his third wife are buried in the Senath Cemetery in Missouri.
